Вот мне сейчас тоже так кажется – потенциал Трампа на ноябрьских выборах недооценен обеими сторонами. С другой стороны, понятно, что будет происходить в прессе: все мы помним, что они четыре года назад делали из Ромни, который просто ангел во плоти и которому нечего было предъявить, кроме собаки на крыше автомобиля. С Трампом они оттянутся вовсю. Собственно, уже начали, просто еще приходилось отвлекаться, чтобы пнуть Хиллари (потому что Сандерс им всем ближе). Сейчас пинать Хиллари станет нельзя, прочие республиканские претенденты перестанут представлять угрозу, и все это воинство двинется на Трампа, а ограничений у них никаких давно не осталось. Увидим много интересного. Не уверен, правда, какой у этого будет эффект; в случае с Трампом все может получиться наоборот – чем больше вся эта сволочь будет рисовать его фашистом, расистом, гитлером-муссолини, идиотом и анти-интеллектуалистом, а сторонников его – первобытными кретинами, тем больше у него будет сторонников и тем решительнее они будут настроены. Как после атаки на его митинг в Чикаго. Кое-кто из этих ребят все это понимает, но сдержать себя все равно не может, как и все остальные. У прессы особого выбора тоже не будет: поскольку Хиллари очевидным образом никуда не годный кандидат, единственный для них путь – сделать ее оппонента еще хуже. Учитывая, насколько Хиллари плоха, это в данном случае для прессы обозначает уход в совершенно средневековые глубины, что повышает вероятность backfire. Не исключаю вариант, когда пресса выкатывает тщательно выдержанный “до после номинации” Настоящий Компромат на Трампа, и выясняется, что его электорату на это плевать, потому что прессе он давно не верит, а как бы даже и наоборот.

Ну и не следует забывать, что за всеми криками про раскол и катастрофу в Республиканской партии как-то потерялось то обстоятельство, что у демократов тоже все совсем не так просто – пока что получается, что очень далеко не все миллионы сторонников Сандерса готовы голосовать за Хиллари. Плюс мелкие детали типа того, что явка у нее пока что жалостная против небывало высокой у республиканцев, что афро-американцы поддерживают ее совсем не так интенсивно, как Обаму, что белый рабочий класс на глазах уходит к Трампу, ну и так далее.

Поставить, что ли, сотенку против Хиллари, пока она в таких фаворитах?

i did not know re terrorist connections, but somehow not surprised. however, you have to understand ( and Trump has to understand) that those навалом мусульман - they do not dig hate-speech, and are seriously afraid of "internment" or just are concerned about safety. granted there are more anti-jewish hate acts in than US than anti-muslim, american muslims of any generation are unlikely to vote for a man who says " i won't let muslims into the US" - those people have 100-strong family connections back in Lahore and cousins who want to study engineering at SUNY and twice-removed nieces they want to marry their american doctor sons.. etc. he needs to connect to those навалом мусульман, or they will go with cruz or hillary.

as to абортов и однополых браков - Trump is not a social conservative, thank heavens. that would be the last straw for me.

i am following BLM-occupy at my alma mamma, closely - well, it is featured in every issue of my alum magazine, it did not make national news, interestingly. do you know what is my alma mater? who studies there? Mrs. P, this is american creme-de-la-creme, super-elite, kids in the top half-percent of academic/social achievement... and that includes black kids. black kids who have occupied the presidents' office and demanded ridiculous, totally bizarre revision of history - they are third plus generation black intelligentsia. they are upper class if i ever saw one Mrs. P!!!!

as to your last paragraph, i would like to answer separately.
in short, though - i think you are projecting your own feelings onto "many women".

As a matter of fact, many conservative-leaning blacks (yes, there are those!) and religious blacks oppose BLM. I personally know many blacks, who strongly oppose BLM - they work on Wall St. and like being protected by police. Then there are black Jews (and being Jewish doesn't make them less black). Yes, we have those too in NY/NJ (some are orthodox Jews). So please don't generalize that all blacks are the same (that would be very racist of you). There are different kinds of blacks and they don't all have the same priorities.

Not sure what you are trying to say here. My husband doesn't sleep around with interns and doesn't get accused of raping a whole bunch of women. If he did, I wouldn't be standing by him. The fact that Hillary does, significantly reduces her in the eyes of many feminists (not to mention sexual harassment and rape victims).

Это Вы напрасно. Проблема Хиллари не в "standing by her man". Проблема в том, что она принимала в этих процессах очень активное участие. То, как она обходилась тогда с его жертвами, закатывая их в асфальт, вошло в анналы. Поэтому сейчас, когда она изображает из себя икону феминизма, у многих это вызывает сильную изжогу - а вовсе не потому, что нынешние феминистки по большей части идиотки (что, кстати говоря, не так).

First, as a true believer in superiority of own intellect, you are using a condescending tone of voice, which I find to be rude. As to intellectual superiority, the stuff you learned at your elite school might have given you a lot of intellect, but not necessarily wisdom. I wasn't going to compare intellects here, but I went to Columbia. I had many black classmates. We had lots of conversations during our trip to Africa. The class vs. race argument is something that I picked up from them and heard many times since.

Well, i want to apologize if i sound superior. i certainly did not mean to. i meant to sound annoyed. which i am.


and BTW i have no delusions about my intellect, it is very second-rate.
the ONLY reason i mentioned my alma - is because i got a chance of meeting plenty of entitled and radicalized black middle and upper class kids. to me that destroys your "class" argument. but completely. as do recent event in my alma or rather at my alma - with more entitled privileged black kids who are all sold out to BLM.

feminists unfortunately are mostly idiots, whether they went to a community college of hahvahd. indeed, it is harder to find them at the former. too busy getting an education and surviving to care about crap.
