Chrystia Freeland, the former deputy prime minister under Mr Trudeau, said that US president is “clearly threatening our sovereignty” with his campaign to absorb Canada as the 51st state of America.

In order to “guarantee our security”, Ms Freeland said she would build closer security partnerships with European Nato allies and “I would be sure that France and Britain were there, who possess nuclear weapons”.

Ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a statement Tuesday that his Oval Office meeting last week with US President Donald Trump “did not go the way it was supposed to,” describing it as “regrettable” and noting that Ukraine is ready to negotiate.

“I would like to reiterate Ukraine’s commitment to peace,” Zelensky said on X. “None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts.”

“Our meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go the way it was supposed to be. It is regrettable that it happened this way. It is time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive,” Zelensky said.

Интересно, сочтут ли у Трампа, что "It is regrettable that it happened this way" достаточно. Наверно, нет, очень уж похоже на "I am sorry you feel this way". Может, им хватит про strong leadership.

Могу себе представить, c каким скрипом у Зеленского это писали. Небось вся Европа отзвонилась.

The United States and Ukraine are reportedly planning to sign the economic deal that was supposed to be signed last week before a meeting between the country’s two leaders blew up following a spat in the White House.

Reuters reported that President Donald Trump wants to have the deal signed before his address to Congress on Tuesday night so he can announce it at the event.

The report cautioned that plans may change between now and whenever the deal is signed.

Статья на Воксе - помните, восемь лет назад мы какие-то неизвестные люди вам втирали, что Трамп - агент Кремля? Тогда оказалось, что это было не так, Трамп и тут проявил себя антироссийским, и там, и еще вот здесь, и вообще, - но вот теперь он точно агент Кремля!

Никто, блин, не может подождать завершения процесса или хотя бы промежуточных итогов. Мало все в лужу садились, Трампа этого объясняя и предсказывая.
Эти, впрочем, хотя бы напоминают, что облажались в предыдущий раз. Хотя и уклончиво.

Навстречу съезду

Пишут в разных местах, что демократы лихорадочно обсуждают, выебываться им во время речи Трампа в Конгрессе или не выебываться. Предлагаются разного рода плакаты, шумелки, скандеж протестных лозунгов, разноцветные одеяния для демонстрации разных важных вещей и прочие средства и способы. Мне понравилось, что у них там есть еще трезвые головы, которые в этом обсуждении рекомендуют все-таки не выебываться, потому что довыебывались уже. Мол, избирателю эти наши штучки и так поперек горла, не надо усугублять.

Посмотрим, до чего они там договорятся.
