chasovschikЗабавно. Адвокат Шовина потребовал mistrial на основании нашумевших призывов Maxine Waters. Судья признал, что выступление целого члена Конгресса, призывающего к насилию, если вердикт будет не такой, какой этому члену хочется, выглядит хреново и может в дальшейшем дать основания для отмены решения этого суда на апелляции. Но сам удовлетворять требование о mistrial отказался.
Вообще им никому не позавидуешь, конечно. Ни присяжным, ни судье, ни адвокату, ни свидетелям защиты. Это ж даже не "Убить пересмешника", тут толпа национального масштаба.
The judge’s comments came after Chauvin defense attorney Eric Nelson argued that Waters’ comments could have prejudiced the jury and was grounds for a mistrial.
“We have U.S. representatives threatening acts of violence in relation to this specific case, it's mind boggling,” Nelson said to Cahill.
Cahill denied Nelson's motion for a mistrial, but said that Waters’ weekend remarks could give the defense “something on appeal that may result in this whole trial being overturned.”
