Ну и так далее. Они там изо всех сил цепляются к определениям, но вообще возражения сводятся к тому, что "Put simply, neither sex nor gender is a simple binary". Найти такого эксперта-биолога, чтобы заявил, что полов больше двух, им не удалось. Цитируют, к примеру, какого-то антрополога, который несет пургу вроде "It’s just not that simple from a genetic standpoint, and then becomes even more complicated with time under the influence of hormones, environmental exposures, and social experiences.” Social experiences у этого эксперта на пол влияют, да.

Одновременно с чтением этих заклинаний увидал текст про веру прогрессоров в то, что такими заклинаниями можно изменить реальность.

The phenomenon gained momentum through the early 20th century with the Obama-era discovery that digital communications could be wielded to transform public opinion in progressive directions, using an activist technique known as “permission structures”. At its ascendancy, the moral outlook that came bundled with this approach was perhaps best encapsulated by the famous “In This House, We Believe…” lawn sign: a utopian creed associated with the progressive knowledge class, mainly because it’s largely those rich enough to delegate the material side of life to underlings who cannot see its obvious shortcomings. Its moment of peak hubris (and, arguably, a crucial nemesis) was encapsulated in its adherents’ adoption of the belief that someone could become the opposite sex simply by verbal declaration: as though words really were magic spells.

А увенчалось все это чтение тем, что мне пришли результаты анализа крови, сданного вчера к ежегодному чек-апу. Сверху там было написано вот что:

"Reference ranges for nonbinary/intersex or unspecified gender patients have not been established. Please refer to the following table for ranges established for cisgender patients and evaluate in the clinical context of the individual patient".

Игнорирует, значит, наука прогрессивные заклинания. Придумывайте себе любой гендер, типа, но для оценки результатов анализа обращайтесь к таблицам для нормальных людей.

Если приглядеться, все это вообще-то дико смешно.
